Texas Sushiko is serving open-face sushi hand rolls, aka sushi tacos, inside texas sake co.
Our Story
Two years ago, Chef Michael Carranza and team started the in-home omakase service, Tare. After seeing continued success from Tare, we wanted to create an accessible form of omakase sushi that does not require a reservation months in advance.
Owners Michael Carranza and Danielle Martinez grew up in south Texas in households where sushi was never an option for dinner because their families thought raw fish was unappealing, but when they moved to Austin they fell in love with the Japanese specialty. Not being able to share their craft with their families was discouraging but after years of experience from Austin’s top sushi restaurants, Chef Michael made his sushi more approachable by serving his family open-face sushi handrolls, in the shape of a taco, and his family was not afraid to try the new fun format.
